ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University wrestling team will face 17th-ranked Ashland at the Hammermill Center Thursday, February 5. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Gannon has not competed since January 24, when they defeated Waynesburg 33-12. The Golden Knights (4-2) were to host West Liberty State last week, but the match has been rescheduled for February 17. GU is led by 141-pounder #A.J. Milanak# (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area), who is ranked seventh in his weight class, and
Frank McGrath (Hammonton, N.J./St. Augustine Prep), who is ranked eighth among heavyweights in Division II.
Ashland is 2-7 on the season, coming off losses to nationally-ranked Mercyhurst and Pitt-Johnstown in their last two duals. Josh Ohl, a 197-pounder, is ranked fifth in his class, while Justin Ferguson is tabbed seventh in the 174-pound division.
Last season, AU beat Gannon 21-17 on February 13. McGrath and
Kevin McElhaney (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown Area) were among Knights to win their matches against the Eagles.
