Gannon Swimming and Diving to Host Allegheny Friday Night at the CAP

Mitchel Meighen has been one of Gannon's top swimmers in 2009.
ERIE, Pa.- The Gannon men's and women's swimming and diving teams host Allegheny College Friday night. The competition is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion. 

The Lady Knights are 4-1 in head-to-head competition this season and also won the Westminster Relay Meet. GU defeated John Carroll and Notre Dame (Ohio) College at the City College Quad Meet November 10 at Cleveland State. 

Jackie Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) swam a school-record 58.91 seconds in the 100 yard butterfly, placing second. The 200 freestyle relay team took gold at the event. 

The Gannon men are 2-3 in 2009, having beaten JCU and NDC November 10. Kyle Lazenby (Erie, Pa./McDowell) finished second in the 100 yard backstroke and Mitchel Meighen (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) took runner-up in the 100 breaststroke. 

Allegheny's men and women are each 1-2 this season. In 2008, GU won at Allegheny with matching 66-47 scores.
