CLARION, Pa. - The Gannon University men's swimming and diving team beat Edinboro at Clarion Saturday afternoon in a tri-meet. Gannon, Edinboro, and Clarion competed in men's and women's events. Gannon's men won 145.5-76.5 over Edinboro, while falling to Clarion 149-84. The Lady Knights lost to Edinboro 127-100 and to Clarion 157-79.
The Golden Knights took second place in the 200 yard medley relay, as Philip Myrick (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep),
Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic),
Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area), and
David Landry (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) teamed up to finish behind Clarion. Hazlett finished second in the 100 butterfly and Mitchel Meighan (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) took runner-up in the 200 freestyle.
Joe Wagner (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) was second in the 100 freestyle and
Josh Marzilli (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) took runner-up honors in the 400 individual medley. The 200 freestyle relay team also finished second for GU.
For the women,
Kaitlyn Bosy (Courtice, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary) won the 500 yard freestyle race, swimming a 5:21.24 to take gold.
Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) was second in the 400 IM,
Sarah Lawton (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) took second in the 100 backstroke, and
Ashlee Calandra (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) finished runner-up in the 1650 freestyle.
Gannon hosts Indiana (Pa.) February 7 in their next meet. The Knights and Scots will begin competition at 1 p.m.
