ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University women's soccer team beat California (Pa.) 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Gannon University Field. A scoreless match turned in the Lady Knights' favor when senior midfielder Courtney Rowan's (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) direct kick from the 10-yard line was redirected into the net by senior midfielder Katy Lynn (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) in the 88th minute.

Sophomore Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made five saves for her first collegiate shutout.

GU outshot Cal 21-11 and got 10 of those shots on goal.

Vulcan goalkeeper Erin Cook made eight saves to keep her team in the match.

Lynn's goal was her first of the season and ninth of her career.

The Lady Knights will now go to Clarion Tuesday, September 9 for a 7 p.m. match.
