ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men's soccer team attempts to extend its home unbeaten streak to 14 matches Saturday, September 6 when it continues a three-match homestand against California (Pa.) at Gannon University Field. The contest is the second of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader which features the women's team at 1 p.m. followed by the men's contest at 3 p.m.

Gannon enters Saturday's contest with a 1-1 overall record and 1-0 PSAC mark. The Golden Knights extended their home unbeaten streak to 13 matches last Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Lock Haven in the PSAC opener. The squad's last home loss came on October 29, 2006.
Afrim Latifi (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) scored the game-winner against Lock Haven with 3:03 remaining in the first half. Adam Maduri (Oakville, Ontario/St. Ignatius of Loyola) netted the first goal 8:43 into the match.
Mario Gastaldo (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga) and Zane Polack (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) both recorded their first career assists. Steven Boehmer (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) continues to excel in goal with a 1.50 goals against average and .857 save percentage.
California (Pa.) brings a 1-0-2 overall record and 0-0-1 conference mark into Saturday's contest after battling Mercyhurst to a 1-1 tie last Tuesday. Junior forward Mike Luecke has recorded two goals, two assists, and six points in the first three matches.
Gannon leads the all-time series 8-1, but the two programs have not met since 2004. The Golden Knights are 4-0 against the Vulcans in Erie. Gannon has won the last three meetings in the all-time series.
