ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University women's soccer team continues their season Wednesday, September 17 with a 6 p.m. match against conference foe Edinboro at Gannon University Field.

Live stats for the match will be available at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/women/soccer/lstats/xlive.htm.

GU (3-1, 3-1) is ranked 10th in the September 9 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic regional rankings. The Lady Knights won their first three matches of the season before dropping a double-overtime decision to Slippery Rock Saturday. The Rock is ranked 15th in NCAA Division II and second in the NSCAA Atlantic regional rankings.

The Lady Knights are led by freshman Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch), who has scored three goals and tallied an assist in four matches.

Edinboro (2-3-1, 0-3-1) lost to Lock Haven 3-1 at home Saturday. The loss continued the Fighting Scots troubles in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 2008. They have yet to win in four league contests.

Gannon brings back four of its top five scorers from 2007, including midfielder Courtney Rowan (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), who scored seven goals to lead the team. Jamie Shadd (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led the team with four assists a year ago.

Coach Colin Peterson's sixth season at the helm of the Lady Knights marks Gannon's first in the PSAC. GU was chosen to finish fifth in the PSAC West, according to the preseason coaches' poll. Edinboro was tabbed to finish fourth.
