Golden Knight Swimming and Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet at Allegheny Friday

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Gannon University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet at Allegheny College Friday. The men beat Edinboro 73-35 and Allegheny 66-47, while the women defeated the hosts 66-47. Edinboro's women beat the Lady Knights 65-46. 

For the Golden Knights, the 200 freestyle relay team of Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area), David Landry (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area), and John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) collaborated for a gold medal. Josh Marzilli (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) took first in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events, Krakowski won the 100 freestyle, Hazlett touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly, and the 200 medley relay team won. Phil Myrick (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic), Hazlett, and Krakowski teamed up for the victory. 

Megan Beresford (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) led the Lady Knights, as she won both the one-and-three meter dives. The sophomore scored a 269.05 in the one-meter dive and totaled a 276.55 in the three-meter event. Ashlee Calandra (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) won the 500 yard freestyle event and Sam Bluhm (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) took first in the 100 backstroke. 

Gannon will have three weeks off before their next competition. They will compete in the Mid-Season Invite at Wooster on December 4-6.
