Lady Knights Drop 3-2 Decision at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Gannon University women's soccer team lost at Bloomsburg 3-2 Saturday afternoon. Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) scored two goals to lead the Lady Knights in defeat. 

In the ninth minute, Sharbaugh scored to put GU (7-3-1) up 1-0. Bloomsburg (7-3) answered with two goals to take a 2-1 halftime advantage. Sharbaugh scored off a Courtney Rowan (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) assist in the 61st minute to even the contest. Ashley Brucker of the Huskies scored at the 83:45 mark to give her team the lead for good. 

Sharbaugh tied and broke the school record for goals by a freshman with nine. Her first goal of the day tied the record, set by Joy Pelger in 1998. 

Rowan's five assists leads the Lady Knights in 2008 and her 19 career helpers is the second-most in Gannon history. Erin Cray totaled 22 assists from 1997-2000 at GU. 

Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made three saves in a losing effort. 

The Lady Knights will travel to Lock Haven Tuesday, October 7 for their next match. The match kicks off at 3 p.m.
