Gannon Women's Soccer Hosts Clarion Friday Night Under the Lights

Gannon returns home Friday night for the first time since October 1.
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University women's soccer team continues their season Friday, October 17 with a 7 p.m. match against conference foe Clarion at Gannon University Field.

GU (8-4-1, 6-2-1) is ranked 10th in the initial NCAA Division II Atlantic regional rankings released Wednesday. With a win against Clarion, the Lady Knights would ensure a winning record for the fifth time in program history. Gannon is currently tied for second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division with 19 points. Indiana (Pa.) is in first place with 21 points.

Clarion (3-9-2, 0-7-2) lost at home to Mercyhurst 6-0 October 12. Jill Miller leads the team with five goals this season.

The Lady Knights are led by freshman Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch), who has scored a Gannon-freshman record 10 goals in 2008. Courtney Rowan (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) has added six goals and leads GU with six assists this season. Gannon is the second highest-scoring team in the conference with 30 goals this year.
