Golden Knights Lose 3-0 to Vulcans

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Gannon University men's soccer team lost 3-0 at California (Pa.) Saturday afternoon. The Vulcans' Shakir McCoy scored in the 37th minute to give his team the lead. 

A physical contest broke out between the two teams, as Gannon was called for 19 fouls and each side was given two red cards. 

McCoy scored on a penalty kick to open the scoring. Mike Luecke added insurance at the 47:56 mark and then Nick Helbig scored on another penalty kick for the Vulcans. Cal moved into first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division with the win. 

Steven Boehmer (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) recorded five saves as both teams had eight shots in the match. 

The Golden Knights will head to Alderson-Broaddus Saturday, October 18 for their next contest. The match will kick off at 3 p.m.
