Bennett led the Gannon men's golf team to a come-from-behind victory at the Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational last weekend at Whispering Woods Golf Club. The Golden Knights trailed rival Mercyhurst by four strokes after the first round, before shooting 17 strokes better than the Lakers during the second day to win by a comfortable 13 strokes. Bennett led the charge by winning his first career individual title with a two-day score of two-over-par 146. He ended the first round in a three-way tie for first place after posting a 73. Bennett then repeated the 73 during the final round, tying one other golfer for the lowest round of the day. The two scores enabled Bennett to win the title by one stroke. Bennett recorded one eagle, seven birdies and 17 pars during the two-day event. He ranked second in par-three scoring (3.13), third in par-four scoring (4.15) and third in par-five scoring (4.75). Bennett's pair of 73's represented the lowest scores of his fall season.
