JOHNSTOWN, PAÂ - Gannon finds themselves in front in the team standings following the first day of the 2026 NCAA Atlantic/East Regional, being held at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, PA.Â
Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium), second at the regional a year ago, is tied for the lead in the individual field at three under par. He carded six birdies on the afternoon to pace the field.Â
The scorecards were littered with birdies on Thursday. Specifically, 14 birdies were made between the five Gannon starters, and Mario Estevez (Gijón, Spain/Colegio Montedeva de Gijón) found an eagle on the par five 11th hole during his round. Seppanen had six birdies to pace all players. Gannon only made three doubles or worse in the first 18 holes.Â
The Golden Knights will be up bright and early on Friday for the second round of the regional. They'll have the first set of tee times, starting at 7:30 am.Â
THE KNIGHTCAP - GANNON RESULTS
Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) (T1 / -3)
Fresh off a second place finish a year ago at this event, Seppanen immedately made his prescence known again in round one. He would card a double bogey on the sixth hole and go to work, securing a birdie on both the eighth and ninth holes to go out in an even par 35. Then, on the back, the birdie train kept on rolling. He would birdie the 12th (par four), 13th (par four) and 14th (par three), and another birdie on the 17th. A 32 on the back nine secured a round of 67, good for three under par. It ties his lowest round of the season.Â
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) (T18 / +2)
The veteran in this field, Delorenzi battled back from a challengin front nine to end the day at two-over par (72). The senior made birdie on the par four fourth hole and finished the front nine at two-over 37. Then, as he made the turn, Delorenzi birdied the 12th and 14th holes to counter two bogeys and go an even 35 on the back for a 72 on the scorecard to end the opening round.Â
Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) (T18 / +2)
Parrini started off the day with a 38 on the front, three over par and has six par saves on the opening nine holes. As he made the turn, similar to his teammates, Parrini caught fire. He went back to back on birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, a par five and four, to get back to one over, and ended in the red numbers coming home (34). A round of 72 has him and Delorenzi positioned well heading to moving day.Â
Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) (T42 / +4)
Having played just one round at this event a year ago, Wolak came out with a purpose, shaking off two early bogeys with birdies on the par three seventh (playing 242 yards) and par five ninth hole, which was a monster of 621 yards. He also made a birdie at the 11th hole and would card a 39 on the back for a round of four-over 74.Â
Mario Estevez (Gijón, Spain/Colegio Montedeva de Gijón) (T63 / +6)
Following a bogey on the first hole, Estevez responded with pars on six of the final eight holes on the front to begin his round with a 38 on the opening nine. He then found the only eagle of the day for the Golden Knights, on the par five 11th hole. Estevez went on to shoot at 38 on the back for a round of six-over 76 on Thursday.
