LEBANON, Pa. – The Gannon men's golf team opened the PSAC Championships with a strong first round on Friday, shooting a 2-under 286 at Iron Valley Golf Club to sit second on the team leaderboard.
The Golden Knights trail West Chester, which completed the opening round at 7-under. Several teams were still finishing their rounds when play concluded for Gannon, so the standings remained subject to change.
Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) led the Golden Knights with a 2-under 70 and sits fourth individually after the opening 18 holes. Parrini carded a pair of birdies on the back nine and finished with matching 35s on the front and back.
Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) and Mario Estevez (Gijón, Spain/Colegio Montedeva de Gijón) each opened with 1-under 71s and are tied for fifth. Estevez highlighted his round with an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole, while Seppanen finished with five birdies.
Carson Moniz (Laramie, WY/Laramie) added a 2-over 74 and is tied for 12th, while Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) carded a 5-over 77 and sits tied for 24th.
Not all teams had completed their opening rounds when Gannon finished, meaning the team and individual standings are not yet final.
