PAWLEY'S ISLAND, SC– The Gannon men's golf returned to action for the spring portion of the season on Monday, finishing the first day of the Pawley's Island Beach Bash in second place by five strokes. Three players are tied for ninth overall as Gannon put together multiple impressive performances in their first round of the spring.

THE KNIGHT CAP

  • Three's Company - There are a trio of Golden Knights tied for ninth after the first day: Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena), Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area), and Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo). All three sit two-over par, shooting a 74 on Monday. Delorenzi secured three birdies on the day, shooting an even par 36 on the back nine. Wolak went even at 36 on the front, and Parrini birdied the first hole and had a bogey or worse on just two holes all morning.
  • Not Far Behind - Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) was his usual consistent self, carding a three over 75 for the first round. The Swede bounced back from a triple bogey on the fourth, scoring par the rest of the way to sit in the top 20.
  • Super Mario - Playing as one of the individuals on Monday, Mario Estevez (Gijón, Spain/Colegio Montedeva de Gijón) delivered an impressive performance, sitting eight over and near the top half of the field, at 50th.
  • Team Title - The Golden Knights are just 11 shots back of first-place Wayne State, the lone team to shoot under par for the day.
