Adyson Rothermel (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser High) of the No. 9 Gannon Acrobatics & Tumbling team has been named the NCATA Division II Freshman of the Week following her performance in the Golden Knights' tri-meet sweep this past week.
Rothermel, a base for Gannon, helped lead the Golden Knights to a pair of victories with a 258.305–186.585 win over Buffalo State and a 258.305–193.765 victory against Trine. The performance improved No. 9 Gannon to 3–1 on the season.
Competing in seven heats along with the team event, Rothermel delivered several strong performances for the Golden Knights. Her outing was highlighted by a 9.85 in compulsory pyramid and a 9.60 in both compulsory acro and toss. She also helped Gannon record two scores of 9.55 in the inversion pyramid and 450 salto toss heats.
Rothermel was also part of the team event that produced the highest team event score of the season for No. 9 Gannon as the Golden Knights posted an 87.28 to close out the meet.
The honor marks the first weekly NCATA award of Rothermel's career and the first this season for the No. 9 Gannon Acrobatics & Tumbling team.
