ERIE, Pa. – The No. 9 Gannon Acrobatics & Tumbling team earned a statement victory in its home opener Friday night, defeating No. 7 Duquesne, 259.755–254.645, inside the Highmark Events Center during Alumni Appreciation Night.
The win marked the first career head coaching victory for
Addy Womeldorph and came in front of an electric home crowd.
Duquesne held a narrow 94.50–93.65 advantage after the first half, which included the compulsory, acro, and pyramid events, but Gannon responded immediately after halftime.
The Golden Knights took the lead by winning the toss event, 28.20–26.55, then extended the margin by outscoring Duquesne 51.675–51.425 in tumbling and never relinquished control the rest of the meet.
