For the third consecutive week, Gannon freshman back/base Adyson Rothermel (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser High) has been named the NCATA Division II Freshman of the Week, continuing an impressive start to her collegiate career.
Rothermel earns the honor following Gannon's 268.495-255.490 victory over No. 12 Glenville State last week inside the Highmark Events Center. The Wernersville, Pa. native competed in eight events in addition to the team event, playing a key role in guiding the Golden Knights to the win.
She also helped the Golden Knights post a 9.90 in the compulsory pyramid, a 9.90 in the compulsory toss, and a 9.90 in the open pyramid.
Through the early portion of the season, Rothermel has been a consistent contributor across multiple heats, helping Gannon remain undefeated at home with a 4-0 record. This marks the third weekly award of her career.
No. 9 Gannon returns to action tonight, hosting No. 8 Mary Hardin-Baylor at 6:00 p.m. in a top-10 matchup inside the Highmark Events Center. The Golden Knights have already secured wins over two ranked opponents this season and will look to add another to their résumé.
