Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the NCAA Women's Scholar All-American Awards, recognizing outstanding academic achievement by individual student-athletes across the nation.
Five Gannon women's wrestling standouts were named to the list, including:
Zoe Gaetjens (Mogadore, Ohio/Mogadore) (Biology Pre-Med)
Isabella McNutt (Allison Park, PA/Hampton Township) (Nutrition & Human Performance)
Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School) (Public Service & Global Affiars)
Leyna Rumpler (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) (Political Science)
Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) (Accounting)
A total of 540 student-athletes representing 92 institutions were recognized for their academic success in the classroom while competing throughout the season.
The scholar awards follow the conclusion of the NCAA Women's Championships, which took place March 6-7.
Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School) became Gannon's first ever women's wrestling NCAA all-American, placing fifth at 180 pounds at the meet. McKendree captured the inaugural team title with 171 points.
