ERIE, Pa. — Gannon Athletics enters another busy week of competition from Oct. 5-12 after a weekend highlighted by the men's water polo team's first victory over George Washington since 2008.
The Golden Knights will host a full slate of events throughout the week, highlighted by Saturday's Soctober Alumni Weekend soccer doubleheader and Men's Soccer Senior Day at McConnell Family Stadium.
Women's Golf
Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 5-6 – Gannon at William Beall Fall Classic – All Day
Sunday-Monday, Oct. 11-12 – Gannon vs. Michael Corbett Fall Classic – All Day
The Gannon women's golf team begins a busy week Monday and Tuesday at the William Beall Fall Classic in Findlay, Ohio, before returning home to host the Michael Corbett Fall Classic.
The Golden Knights are coming off a 12th-place finish in the 16-team Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite at The Meadows at Grand Valley State. Gannon finished the 54-hole event at 105-over 969 after rounds of 331, 318 and 320.
Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) led the Golden Knights, tying for 16th at 17-over 233 after rounds of 78, 76 and 79.
Alexandria LeCureux (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) tied for 34th at 22-over 238 with rounds of 82, 76 and 80, while
Victoria Colmenares (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/ICL Academy) competed as an individual and tied for 42nd at 24-over 240.
Gannon returns to Findlay for the William Beall Fall Classic before closing the week at home with the Michael Corbett Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
Men's Soccer
Wednesday, Oct. 7 – Gannon at Slippery Rock – 4 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 10 – Gannon vs. Seton Hill – 4 p.m. – Senior Day / Soctober Alumni Weekend
The Gannon men's soccer team enters the week unbeaten in four PSAC West matches after going 1-0-1 last week.
The Golden Knights opened the week with a commanding 6-1 victory at California (Pa.) on Wednesday.
Rafa Hyde (São José dos Campos, Brazil/Objetivo Aquarius) and
Per Kristian Lauvstad (Nesoya, Norway) each scored twice, while
Jensen Peake (Staffordshire, England/Friary) added his first goal of the season and
David Ivascu (Vaughan, Ontario/St. Elizabeth Catholic) converted a late penalty kick. Gannon scored four times in the opening 30 minutes and carried a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Gannon followed with a 2-2 draw at West Chester on Saturday.
Carter Sindlinger (Edinboro, Pa./General Mclane) scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 19th minute before Ivascu scored his sixth goal of the season in the 75th minute to bring the Golden Knights level.
Peake assisted on both Gannon goals. The Golden Knights enter the week at 7-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in PSAC West play.
Gannon travels to Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before returning to McConnell Family Stadium Saturday for one of the highlights of Soctober Alumni Weekend.
Saturday's 4 p.m. matchup with Seton Hill will also serve as Senior Day, with Senior Day festivities taking place prior to the match. The Golden Knights will recognize

Olivia Dixon (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) opened the scoring from the penalty spot as the Golden Knights defeated IUP for the first time since 2023.
Goalkeeper
Alwa Wennstroem (Öjebyn, Sweden) continued her outstanding start between the posts, improving to 6-0 since entering the starting lineup while still having yet to concede a goal.
Gannon hosts Edinboro on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before opening Saturday's Soctober Alumni Weekend doubleheader against California (Pa.) at 1 p.m.
The women's matchup begins a full afternoon celebrating the tradition of Gannon Soccer before the men's team hosts Seton Hill at 4 p.m.
Volleyball
Friday, Oct. 9 – Gannon vs. Pitt-Johnstown – 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 10 – Gannon vs. IUP – 2 p.m.
The Gannon volleyball team returns to the Highmark Events Center for a pair of important PSAC West matches after splitting two road contests last weekend.
The Golden Knights suffered their first PSAC West loss of the season on Friday in a five-set battle at Clarion. Gannon took the first and third sets, but Clarion answered with 26-24 victories in the second and fourth before taking the fifth set, 15-10. The loss snapped Gannon's 12-match winning streak.
Gannon responded on Saturday with a sweep at Slippery Rock. The Golden Knights held Slippery Rock to just nine points in the third set, the second-lowest total allowed by Gannon in a set this season behind the eight points surrendered to Malone on Sept. 4.
The Golden Knights enter the week in a three-way tie for first place in the PSAC West with IUP and Clarion, with all three teams sitting at 4-1 in conference play. Gannon owns a 14-3 overall record, while IUP enters at 12-4 and Clarion at 12-5.
A challenging weekend awaits the Golden Knights. Pitt-Johnstown recently pushed IUP to five sets, while Saturday's matchup with IUP will feature two teams tied atop the PSAC West standings.
Gannon hosts Pitt-Johnstown Friday night at 7 p.m. before welcoming IUP Saturday at 2 p.m.
Men's & Women's Cross Country
Saturday, Oct. 10 – Gannon at Lewis Crossover – 9:45 a.m. / 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 10 – Gannon at Highlander Invitational – 10 a.m.
The Gannon men's and women's cross country teams return to competition Saturday after both squads posted seventh-place finishes at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Sept. 26.
The men's team finished seventh in the 18-team field with 185 points. Freshman
Dane Hieronimus (Toledo, Ohio/Bedford Senior) led the Golden Knights with a 13th-place finish in the 8K, crossing in 25:58.7.
Bradyn Rusch (Valley View, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) followed in 24th at 26:16.2, while
Robert Tang (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) finished 49th in 26:49.4.
The women's team also placed seventh out of 18 teams with 195 points.
Alexis Abbett (Aspinwall, Pa./Aquinas Academy) paced Gannon with a 12th-place finish in the 5K at 18:59.0, while
Megan Ickes (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) placed 29th in 19:31.2.
Josephine Holody () finished 51st in 19:56.8 and
Josey Blackburn (Northfield, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) was 55th in 19:59.9.
Gannon will split its squads Saturday between the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill., and the Highlander Invitational in Houghton, N.Y.
Football
Saturday, Oct. 10 – Gannon at Clarion – 2 p.m.
The Gannon football team continues PSAC West play Saturday when the Golden Knights travel to Clarion for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
Gannon is coming off a 49-10 setback at No. 8 Slippery Rock on Saturday night.
Quarterback
Andre Underwood (Cincinnati, Ohio/Aiken) made his second start of the season for the Golden Knights, while Evan Carney made his first appearance of the season and connected on a field goal.
Gannon will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon against Clarion.
Men's Golf
Sunday-Monday, Oct. 11-12 – Gannon vs. Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational – All Day
The Gannon men's golf team returns to action Sunday and Monday when the Golden Knights host the Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
The two-day event gives Gannon an opportunity to compete on its home course as the fall schedule moves toward the PSAC Championships.
The Golden Knights will play both Sunday and Monday at Whispering Woods before heading to the PSAC Championships later in October.
Men's Water Polo
The Gannon men's water polo team enters the week following a historic 15-14 victory over George Washington on Sunday afternoon at Hallman Aquatics Center.
The victory marked Gannon's first win over George Washington since 2008.
Eight different Golden Knights scored as Gannon finished with 15 goals and 14 assists in the one-goal victory.
Rajmund Farsang (Eger, Hungary/Neumann Janos Gimnazium) finished with one goal and seven assists, with his seven assists tying for the second-most in a single match in program history.
Gannon now prepares for WWPA Conference Weekend later this month. The Golden Knights return to action on Friday, Oct. 23, when they open the weekend against host Salem at 8 p.m. in Bridgeport, W.Va.
