ERIE, Pa. – Four wins at home in hoops gave way to some impressive performances. Standouts
Lucas Sekasi (Washington, DC/Jackson-Reed) and
Mia Slater (Canberra, Australia/Canberra Grammar School) have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of December 14. This marks the 16th week honoring Gannon's Student-Athlete of the Week and encompasses events through Sunday, and the first weekly award of 2026.
It was a career weekend for Sekasi at the Highmark Events Center. Following a 13 points, seven rebound performance on Friday against Shippensburg, the sophomore followed it up with a career high 20 points in a victory over Lock Haven. That mark surpassed his previous career high of 19, which he had set just a few weeks prior at Millersville on December 21st. Sekasi leads Gannon in rebounds per game through 13 games played (6.1).
Meanwhile, Slater worked her way into the starting lineup on both Friday and Saturday following a career high 21 points on December 21st against Millersville. The Aussie took advantage of her minutes, pouring in 13 points in a win against Shippensburg. She would then chip in with seven points and seven boards as the Golden Knights defeated Lock Haven the following day. Slater is now fourth on the team, averaging 7.9 points per game.
