Petersen Makes Big Move on Day Two at NCAA East Regional

ALLENDALE, Mich. – It's a two-horse race for the championship after 36 holes at the NCAA Division II East Regional. Grand Valley State maintained first place out of 18 teams with the Lakers holding just a four-stroke lead over second-place Findlay. GVSU is at 12-over 588 while Findlay comes in at 592.

A number of other teams are contesting for the final berths to the NCAA Division II National Championships, but Gannon was unable to climb into that group. The Golden Knights entered the day tied for 11th and dropped back three spots after the second day at The Meadows Golf Club. Gannon shot 39-over 327 after and opening day total of 320 and sits at 71-over 647.

PETERSEN MAKES BIG CLIMB ON DAY TWO
Three-time PSAC champion Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) suffered a rare off day on Monday shooting 9-over par 81. She entered Tuesday in a tie for 50th place turned in a solid round on the second day. Petersen jumped into a tie for 25th place after finishing at 4-over par 76 for a 36-hole total of 157.

Petersen sizzled out of the gate and made the turn with a 1-under 36 on the front nine. She birdied the par-4 second and par-5 ninth holes. However, like everyone else for the Golden Knights she struggled once again on the back nine.

BACK NINE VERY UNFRIENDLY
On Monday Gannon struggled over the final nine holes with three birdies and just 11 pars. Tuesday's scores weren't any better as the five Gannon golfers were a combined 33-over par. They were unable to make a birdie and finished with 19 pars.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS HAVE EARLY TEE TIMES ON WEDNESDAY
Gannon will get an early start to the final 18 holes with the first Golden Knights scheduled to tee off at 8:50 a.m.
