ERIE, Pa. – A strong field and difficult playing conditions await the Gannon women's golf team when it competes in the ODU NC4K Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican on Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8.

A total of 16 teams and 100 players are expected to tee off on Monday at Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio. The field includes ten regionally-ranked teams. Competing teams include (with regional ranking): (5) Ashland, (20) Charleston (WV), (7) Ferris State, (9) Gannon, (14) Glenville State, (2) Grand Valley State, Lake Superior State, Malone, Northern Michigan, (17) Northwood, (19) Ohio Dominican, Purdue NW, (13) Saginaw Valley State, Thomas More, Walsh,  and(10) Wayne State (Mich.).

What awaits the players will be less than ideal playing conditions on the par 72 layout, with the teams playing six golfers and counting four. Tuesday forecast calls for extreme cold conditions in the morning and potential frost. The goal is to get in as many holes as possible on Monday for the 36-hole event. A shotgun start is set for 11:00 a.m.

In addition, the weekend saw the Columbus area receive over five inches of rain forcing the cancelation of Sunday's practice round and portions of the course under water.

Gannon competed in the ODU NC4K Classic a year ago and finished fifth out of 14 teams. Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) finished sixth with rounds of 72-76 = 148 (+4).

Head coach Scott Stano's squad last competed in the Findianapolis Intercollegiate a week ago. Petersen earned a 12th-place finish in the 54-hole event as the Golden Knights came in seventh.
