Mallozzi, Skolnik Named Chick-fil-A Student-Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Softball player Natalia Mallozzi (Woodbridge, Ontario/Father Bressani Catholic) and Jacob Skolnik (Erie, Pa./McDowell High School), a member of the competitive cheer and dance team, have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 30. The Gannon Student-Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Erie.

Mallozzi enjoyed another big week at the plate for the softball team as the Golden Knights dropped a doubleheader against Slippery Rock but then swept California (Pa.).

The lefty-hitting first baseman hit .583 in the four games (7-of-12) with two runs and five RBIs. She hit home runs in both games against the Vulcans, a two-run shot in the fourth inning of a 7-3 win in the opener and a two-run blast in the first inning of a 4-3 win in the nightcap.

Skolnik, from nearby McDowell High School, was one of seven seniors honored in pre-game festivities. He then was a key performer as Gannon excelled in Saturday's Road to Daytona Showcase. Gannon ended up taking first place in the Team Performance Division (dance) and Hip Hop Division (dance) along with the Game Day Competition (cheer).
