LOCK HAVEN, PA - Gannon men's wrestling cleaned up a significant portion of the 2025-26 major all-conference awards, it was announced today by the conference.
Heavyweight
Dorian Crosby (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was tabbed as the PSAC Men's Wrestling Athlete of the Year. Crosby, going undefeated on the season, captured the NCAA DII 285-pound title at the championship meet in Sioux Falls, SD. Crosby's title carries historic significance. The program had gone a quarter century (2001) without producing an NCAA Division II national champion, despite several strong teams and individual standouts over the years. The last champion was Doug Joseph in 2001, when he captured the 197 pound crown. Crosby's performance not only ends that long drought but also places his name among the most accomplished wrestlers in program history.
Meanwhile,
Tom Boyd, already named NWCA Super Region One Coach of the Year, now adds this PSAC honor to his list of coaching accolades. Boyd led the Golden Knights to one of their best seasons in program history. Gannon set a program record for wins in a single season with 12, going 12-1 on the year. GU would win their third ever PSAC Championship during that record setting win, defeating UPJ, 18-12.
Following the regular season, Boyd steered Gannon to a dominant NCAA Super Regional One team championship, scoring more than 45 points better than the second place finishing team. In the process, GU would qualify nine of ten competitors for the NCAA Championship meet, and earn seven individual regional titles.
In addition, six Golden Knights were named First Team all-PSAC, the most of any school in the conference:
Jerry Echevarria (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) (133 lbs)
Jake Niffenegger (Mason, Ohio/La Salle) (141 lbs)
Grant MacKay (New Castle, Pa./Laurel) (165 lbs)
Pat Jackson (184 lbs)
Joey Lyons (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) (197 lbs)
Dorian Crosby (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) (285 lbs)
Logan Sallot (Erie, PA/McDowell High School) and
Kenny Kiser (Meadville, Pa./Saegertown) were named second team all-PSAC.
