YORK, Pa. -- While West Chester captured yet another PSAC Men's Swimming Championship on Thursday there was plenty of drama on the day. Gannon and Clarion battled throughout for the honor of runner-up and thanks to a fourth place finish in the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Golden Knights held off Clarion to take home second place at the York YMCA Aquatics Club.
West Chester won its third straight PSAC title and 37th overall finishing with 960 points. After entering the day two points behind Clarion the Golden Knights inched ahead and the held off the Golden Eagles, finishing with 561.5 points compared to 559.5 points for Clarion. Bloomsburg in fourth with 394 points, and IUP rounding out the top five with 391 points.
Clarion picked up 32 points as the third-place finisher in the 400-yard freestyle relay, but Gannon was right behind the Golden Eagles to garner 30 points. It was the third Gannon finished second at the PSAC Championships, along with 2023 and 2012.
On the final day of the PSAC Swimming Championships, the Golden Knights showcased a series of impressive performances, with Aidar Sateav achieving All-PSAC status in the 200 breaststroke. This accomplishment contributed to the Golden Knights matching their highest finish at the PSAC Championships since 2023.
