YORK, Pa. -- The Gannon men's swimming team maintained it's strong showing at the 2025 PSAC Swimming Championships on Wednesday as Day 3 concluded. First-year head coach
Milan Medo's team was in second place after the first days of competition and sits in third place with one day remaining.
West Chester holds down first place with 705 points with Clarion and Gannon in a tight battle for second place. Clarion finished the day with 418.5 points while Gannon is just four points behind with 414.5 points. Indiana (Pa.) is a distant fourth with 284 points. The PSAC Championships will wrap up on Thursday.
Wednesday was highlighted by a record-setting performance by
Will Retsch (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton). The junior earned All-PSAC honors in the 200-yard butterfly thanks to a second place finish. he set a new school record with an NCAA B time of 1:49.74. Retsch also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay that earned All-PSAC honors after touching in third place with a time of 1:32.22. The medley relay included Retsch,
Aidar Sataev (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan/Forest Hill), Jakub Loboda, and
Connor Hebert (Damascus, Md./Damascus) (Damascus, Md./Damascus).
Several other Golden Knights gained valuable points while earning spots in the A finals. They included Nikita Poparcea (5th -- 51.13) and
Nickolas Ambrosiani (Seward, Alaska/Seward)Â (7th -- 51.47) in the 100-yard backstroke and
Aidar Sataev (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan/Forest Hill)Â (6th -- 56.39) in the 100-yard breaststroke).
The final day of competition will begin tomorrow morning at 10:00 am. Events include the 1650 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, and 400 freestyle relay.Â
