Football Announces 23 Recruits for Incoming Class

Six transfers also joined squad at mid-year

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon football team has replenished its roster in recent weeks as head coach Erik Raeburn announced the addition of 23 players on the February 5 signing day. In addition, six transfers joined the program at the beginning of the semester and are currently enrolled in classes.

"We are really excited about this year's recruiting class," exclaimed Raeburn. "They are a talented group, and we can't wait to get to work with them. Our coaching staff believes they will make an immediate impact in our program."

The numbers indicate a great deal of emphasis was placed on the defense, with 15 of the 23 freshmen okaying on the defensive side of the ball. Raeburn's staff brought in nine defensive backs and also looked to rebuild the defensive line with six recruits. One linebacker signed in February.

The skill positions were emphasized on the offensive side of the ball. Three wide receivers were added, along with a pair of running backs, a quarterback and an offensive linemen.

Nine states are represented in the 2025 recruiting class. Raeburn has always harvested the Midwest for talent and this year was no exception. Seven players hail from the Midwest, including four from Indiana, where Raeburn has always done well.

The Gannon roster has traditionally had talented players from Maryland on the roster. This year Gannon added five players from Maryland. The south was not neglected either, with five recruits from Florida and another from Georgia. 

Gannon finished the 2024 season with a 3-7 record as injuries greatly impacted the season. Raeburn and his staff will continue to replenish the roster prior to kickoff of the 2025 season.
