Ratliff Named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon University's Kate Ratliff (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) has been named the PSAC West Women's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week. The conference announced its weekly awards this afternoon.

A 6-foot-0 guard, Ratliff has led Gannon to a 4-1 start. The season began with two wins in three games in the D2 CCA Tip-Off Classic. The fifth-ranked Golden Knights upset second-ranked Union (Tenn.) and No. 4 North Georgia. Last weekend head coach Cleve Wright's team won a pair of games in the Atlantic Regional Challenge. On Saturday Gannon defeated Davis & Elkins 90-37 followed by a 68-43 triumph over Charleston (WV) on Sunday.

The junior has averaged 12.6 ppg. offensively but she has been the catalyst of a suffocating defense. Gannon has limited its first five opponents to 49.2 ppg. and 28.7 field goal percentage with 19.0 turnovers per game. Ratliff is averaging 4.2 rpg. with seven steals and six blocked shots. She had three steals vs. Charleston and blocked three shots vs. North Georgia.

The Golden Knights return to action on Wednesday, November 19 at Daemen.
