Orten Named D2CIDA Men’s Soccer National Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. – A milestone week on the field has earned Gannon's Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs) national recognition, as the senior forward was selected as the D2CIDA Men's Soccer National Player of the Week for his performance from October 20 to 26.

Orten helped guide the No. 24 Golden Knights to back-to-back conference victories, extending the team's current winning streak to four.

Orten finished the week with 11 points, scoring four goals and adding three assists across the two matches. He posted two goals and two assists in a 4 to 2 win at Seton Hill, then added two more goals and one assist in a 7 to 0 home victory over Pitt Johnstown.
The performance pushed him past the 100 career point mark, making him just the 12th player in program history to reach the milestone, and he also moved into second place all-time at Gannon with 45 career assists.

Across the two-match stretch, Orten totaled nine shots with six on target, continuing to anchor one of the PSAC's most productive attacks. He now ranks tied for first in the conference in goals (11) and goals per game (0.786) while also leading the league in assists (11)assists per game (0.786)points (33), and points per game (2.36).

The D2CIDA National Player of the Week award is selected from nominations submitted by Division II conference offices and voted on by members of the Division II Conference Information Directors Association.
