For the second straight week, Gannon's Student-Athletes of the Week are from the men's soccer and volleyball teams. Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs) of the men's soccer team and Kasey Smith (Meadville, Pa./Villa Maria) from the volleyball team have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of October 26. This marks the eighth week honoring Gannon's Student-Athlete of the Week and encompasses events through Sunday.
 
Orten continued to add to his numerous accomplishments as he led the men's soccer team to a pair of wins. The midfielder took part in all four goals in a 4-2 win at Seton Hill, scoring twice and assisting on the other two goals. 
 
The native of Orsta, Norway was then one of eight seniors recognized before their match with Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. He celebrated with two goals and an assist in a 7-0 win.
 
In the process Orten became the 12th Golden Knight with 100 career points. He now has 103 career points and moved into second place in career assists with 45.   
 
Smith had an opportunity to shine while competing against her former team, Edinboro. The senior middle blocker from Meadville, Pa. bounced off the bench to finish with six total blocks as Gannon rallied from a game down to win in four games. She had a block solo and five block assists, along with three kills.
 
On Saturday, Smith added five more block assists along with a season-high 10 kills and a .421 hitting percentage in a loss to Cedarville.
