After leading the No. 24 Gannon men's soccer team to a pair of league wins and extending the Golden Knights' win streak to four matches, Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs) and Gonzalo Perez (Madrid, Spain/Virgen de Europa) have been named the PSAC Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week.
The awards continue a strong season of recognition for the Golden Knights, as the sweep brings Gannon to six PSAC weekly honors this season. Orten's selection is the fourth PSAC weekly award of his career, while Perez earns the first PSAC weekly honor of his career.
Orten earned PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week after totaling 11 points with four goals and three assists across two matches. His week was highlighted by Senior Day on Saturday, when he reached 100 career points and moved into second place on Gannon's all-time assists list during a 7–0 win over Pitt-Johnstown. He also recorded two goals and an assist in Wednesday's Road victory at Seton Hill. Orten finished the week with four goals, three assists, nine shots, and six shots on target.
Perez was named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week after anchoring a back line that allowed just two goals across the two matches. He helped limit opponents to just 15 total shots and six on goal while contributing a goal in the Senior Day win over Pitt-Johnstown.
His defensive play helped Gannon control tempo in both matches while outscoring Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown by a combined 11–2 margin.
Gannon improved to 8-2-4 overall and 5-0-2 in PSAC West play with last week's results, maintaining its position at the top of the conference standings heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
