LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon senior
Bautista Corti (Manuel Alberti, Argentina/Adultos 2000) has been named as the PSAC West Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Corti, a defender, played his usual outstanding defense, but he also contributed a goal to help Gannon to back-to-back victories over West Virginia Wesleyan and West Chester.
On Wednesday, his defense helped the Golden Knights to a 4-1 win at West Virginia Wesleyan as GU scored four unanswered goals.
Against West Chester on Saturday, Corti scored the game's first goal at the 17:40 mark.
Shota Toyama (Kanagawa, Japan/Tama) launched a corner kick that was redirected by
Pau Ferrer (Valencia, Spain/ISES Isabel de Villena) to Corti on the right side of the box. He shot in traffic and scored into the left side of the net.
That helped Gannon to a 2-0 victory over the Golden Rams. Corti's goal was the third goal of his career and his third game-winning goal.
Corti played all 90 minutes of both wins defensively.
