The Gannon University cross country teams will travel to Illinois to compete in a major competition on Saturday in preparation for the postseason. The Lewis Crossover, hosted by Lewis University, will include 52 schools from 24 states.
Coach
Rob Ahrens' Golden Knights will face plenty of top competition at the meet. The men's field features 16 nationally ranked schools or teams receiving national votes, and the women's field features 12 nationally ranked or teams receiving votes. Five regionally ranked men's programs and seven regionally ranked women's programs are scheduled to compete, and all eight NCAA regions will be represented by at least one team.

The Lewis Crossover will host four races – a men's championship 8K, men's open 8K, women's championship 6K, and women's open 6K. The men's championship race will include 37 schools plus individuals, and the women's championship race will include 38 school plus individuals.

Ahrens has entered Gannon's four top runners from the regular season in the championship races.
Alexis Abbett (Sharpsburg, Pa./Aquinas Academy) and
Emily Bowers (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) will compete for the women, and
Luke Malena (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) and
Ely Personius (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) will run for the men.

The rest of Gannon's athletes are expected to compete in the open races. Gannon last competed in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational in Rochester, N.Y., where the men placed eighth among 25 teams and the women finished 11th among 22 teams.
