EDINBORO, Pa. – The Gannon University men's wrestling team swept the top three spots in the 133-pound weight division on Sunday to highlight the Golden Knights' appearance at Edinboro University's Bobby Kauffman Memorial Open.

Brock Christian (Perry, Ohio/Perry) won the title,
Luke Mentzer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) placed second, and
Chase McLaughlin (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown Area) took third. They were the only Gannon wrestlers among 12 to compete in the tournament, which also featured Division I wrestlers.
Six wrestlers competed for Gannon's B Team, and six competed for Gannon's Unattached team featuring redshirting competitors. The Unattached Team placed 10th among 27 teams, while Gannon's B Team placed 18th.
Christian competed for the Unattached Team. He went 3-0 in the 133-pound class after opening with a pin in 2:23 over Wilfried Tanefeu of the University of Michigan. Christian then defeated McLaughlin 7-4 in the semifinals before pinning Mentzer in 2:38 of the championship match.
Mentzer opened with a pin in 4:27 against Mason Prinkey in the quarterfinals and then recorded a 12-3 major decision over Clarion's Clayton Bashor in the semifinals.
McLaughlin edged Lane Aikey of Edinboro 9-8 and turned in a 16-0 technical fall against Ky-el Ali of Morgan State before losing in the semifinals to Christian. McLaughlin then claimed a medical forfeit win in the third-place match.
