The Gannon University acrobatics & tumbling team will go on the road for an NCATA meet on Sunday at East Stroudsburg.

Coach Brandy Duren's team will take a 4-2 record into the meet, which is set to take place at 1 p.m. in East Stroudsburg's Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Golden Knights will try to protect their No. 5 position in the most recent national poll. On Wednesday, the NCATA released the first of three Championship Rankings. The organization will release polls on April 5 and April 12. The top eight teams in the final poll will advance to the NCATA Championships at West Liberty University in West Virginia on April 27-30.

Gannon will try to protect that national ranking – or improve it – this week again East Stroudsburg and on April 7 when it hosts Presbyterian.

The Golden Knights have beaten No. 3 Azusa Pacific while their only losses have come to No. 9 Limestone and No. 2 Oregon. Gannon is coming off its top scoring output of the season. The Knights defeated Adrian 275.095-208.835.

One GU athlete who received national recognition after the victory over Adrian was sophomore top/tumbler Ty Upton (South Amboy, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas). She was named NCATA Specialist of the Week.

The Golden Knights also celebrated 12 seniors and four "super" seniors as part of Senior Day festivities on that day.

East Stroudsburg is 2-4 after beating Stevenson 233.900-138.325 on Friday. Three of the Warriors' losses have come against nationally ranked teams: No. 6 Frostburg State, No. 7 Fairmont State, and No. 8 Hawaii Pacific.
