Scarpino, Farnsworth Named to D2CCA All-Super Region 1 Teams

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Gannon football team has a pair of players on the D2CCA All-Super Region 1 Teams, which were announced today. Eric Scarpino (Waterford, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) was named to the first team at placekicker while Chris Farnsworth (Bristol, Pa./Milton Hershey) was a second team selection at safety. Gannon recently concluded the season with a 5-6 record.

Slippery Rock quarterback Brayden Long was named the D2CCA Super Region 1 Offensive Player of the Year while defensive lineman Eddie Miller-Garrett of Ohio Dominican was named the Defensive Player of the Year. 

Scarpino enjoyed one of the finest seasons ever by a Gannon placekicker. The redshirt senior was a first-team All-PSAC West honoree after enjoying a near perfect campaign. A left-footed kicker, he made 16-of-17 field goals and 26-of-26 extra points to finish as the team's leading scorer with 74 points. He made his first 15 field goal attempts before missing from 29 yards out in the season finale at Shippensburg. Later in the game he made good on a 43-yarder to break the season record for field goals made with 16 and tie the career record with 33.

Scarpino leads Division II in field goal percentage and is first in the PSAC and fourth in Division II in field goals made per game. He is also fifth in the PSAC in scoring at 6.7 points per game.

He concluded his career with 217 points, fourth all-time, along with ranking second in career PATs with 118. Scarpino made a pair of game-winning kicks, a 32-yarder with six seconds remaining for a 31-28 win at Mercyhurst and a school-record 51-yarder as time expired for a 16-15 win at Indiana (Pa.).

Farnsworth earned a spot on the D2CCA All-Super Region 1 second team for the second straight year. He The senior also became a three-time All-PSAC West honoree. He was named to the first team in 2023 and 2022 and was a second team choice in 2021.

He led the Golden Knights in tackles for the third straight year with 78, including 43 solo tackles, also a team high. He had 1.5 TFL and is sixth in the PSAC with four interceptions. He also had a team-high seven passes broken up with one fumble recovery.

Farnsworth departs ranking among Gannon's career leaders in tackles and interceptions. He is ninth in career tackles with 264, sixth in career interceptions with 11, and eighth in passes broken up with 22. Farnsworth started 37 games in his career.
