Race Preview: Men's Harriers Set to Run in Bill Lennox Invitational on Saturday

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon University men's cross country team will compete in its final race before the PSAC Championships on Saturday, October 7. The Fighting Scots will run in the Bill Lennox Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock. The men's 8K race will get underway at 11:15 a.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle, Pa.

Head coach Rob Ahrens' squad finished seventh in the last year's Bill Lennox Invitational, with Ely Personius (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) leading the Golden Knights. Personius finished 17^th with a time of 26:50.

Caleb Mandel (Harborcreek, Pa./Harbor Creek) did not run in last year's race, but it is hoped he will be ready to go after missing a race this year. The graduate student returned to finish 60th at last week's Live in Lou Cross Country Classic.

The Golden Knights turned in a solid showing at the Liv in Lou Classic, placing 24^th out of 48 teams. Ely Personius (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) has been Gannon's lead runner in three of the four races this year. Last week the senior came in 22nd with a time of 26:25.0 over the 8K course.

Luke Malena (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) was Gannon's third runner across the finish line in 112th place among the 389 runners.

The Bill Lennox Invitational is Gannon's final primer before the PSAC Championships. Bloomsburg will host the conference championship on Saturday, October 21.
