ERIE, PA. – The Gannon men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2025 campaigns with standout performances at the Race in the Park on Senior Day. The Golden Knights placed multiple runners in the top 10 on both sides, as the men captured the team title and the women finished second overall.
THE KNIGHT CAP – WOMEN

Team Finish: Gannon placed 2nd overall in the women's standings.

Top Three Podium Finish: Alexis Abbett (Sharpsburg, Pa./Aquinas Academy) placed 2nd overall with a time of 16:33.8. She was more than 20 seconds faster than the third place finisher.Â

Pack Running: Megan Ickes (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) (6th, 17:09.5) and Makayla McLister (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) (7th, 17:19.5) gave Gannon three runners in the top seven.

Depth Shines: Anna Rakvic (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) (12th), Taylor Friello (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) (14th), and Julia Jackson (Rochester, NY/Webster Thomas) (15th) all placed inside the top 15.

Full Team Effort: Eight runners finished in the top 20, capped by Jess McCracken in 20th.Â

Team Finish: The Golden Knights won the men's team title with six top-ten finishes.

Front of the Pack: Luke Malena (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) led Gannon with a 3rd-place finish, racing 19:26.7.

Tight Pack: Adam Kanterman (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) (4th, 19:32.9) and Robert Tang (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) (5th, 19:34.6) followed closely. The GU trio were separated by just eight seconds.

Top 10 Depth: Caiden Fultz (Castalia, Ohio/Margaretta) (8th), Ethan Boots (Poland, Ohio/Boardman) (9th), and Noah Mammone (Hudson, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) (10th) gave Gannon six in the top ten.
