Golden Knights, White both atop leaderboard after Day One of PSAC Championships

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The change in venue did not seem to faze the Gannon University women's golf team on Day One of the 2022 PSAC Women's Golf Championships, as the Knights—seeking a third-straight PSAC title—currently lead the field by 20 strokes after shooting a combined 323 (+35.) The closest competitors include Millersville University at 343 (+55) and Mercyhurst University (344, +56.) The Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown, Pa. assumed hosting duties from the Hershey Country Club this spring, where the annual three-day tournament had previously been held for over a decade.

Individually, Gannon's Sarah White (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) finds herself atop the leaderboard after firing a 77 (+5), one stroke ahead of Cal U's Rachel Wilson (78, +6.) White shot even-par through the first eight holes and tallied three birdies on the day (on the par-five fifth, 13th, and 18th holes.) White is joined in the top 10 by the rest of her Gannon teammates, who all had excellent rounds. Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole), Andrea Martinez (Tarragona, Spain/Col·legi Vedruna Sagrat Cor), and Ana Maestro (Seville, Spain/Albaydar) are all tied for seventh place with 82 (+10) while Maria Arenas (Bogota, Colombia/) (last year's individual champion) claims sole possession of 10th place with an 84 (+12.)
