LACONIA, IND - The Golden Knights battled hard through 36 holes on Monday to sit sixth in an extremely competitive field after the first day of the Fidianapolis Intercollegiate. Gannon had impressive performances from multiple players, including three members of the team that are in the top 30 entering day two.

THE KNIGHTCAP - GANNON'S TOP FOUR

Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) - Mateo would start the day by shooting an eight-over score of 80 in her first round. The round was capped with a birdie at the 18th hole. Later, in the second round, the native of Spain would birdie the par five eighth hole and shoot a 41 on both the front and back nines, finishing 18-over par for the day. She sits in 22nd place heading into the final round. 

Emily Donahue (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) -  Following a first round of 83, Donahue stormed back in the second round with an impressive eight-over score of 80 to sit at 19-over for the tournament. Donahue would birdie the first hole and three holes on the back nine, including back to back red scores on holes 14 and 15. 

Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir - Sitting in the top 30 after the first day, Gunnarsdottir shined in round one with a score of eight-over 80 in the final 18 holes of the day. She birdied her first hole of the day, the par three fourth hole, and had birdies on the 10th and 18th holes to finish with a 40 on the back nine. 

Anastasia Lopes (Noverasco di opera (MI), Italy/ISTITUTI DEAMICIS MILANO)/Samantha Turk (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph) -  Both Lopes and Turk sit tied for 47th at 27-over par heading into the final round. Turk had two birdies on the back nine of the first round to finish that nine at even par 36, while Lopes showed consistency in the second round, carding an 81.

The final round of the tournament will begin tomorrow, as the Golden Knights look to continue to climb up the leaderboard.
