Gannon Wins 10 Events To Grab Dual Victory At IUP

The Short Story: Josh Nel (Johannesburg, South Africa/American International), Andrew Beyer (Warren, Pa./Warren Area) and Luke Engel (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) all won twice in individual events as the Gannon men's swimming and diving team picked up a dual win for the second straight weekend.

EVENT NOTES

The Golden Knights won 10 of the 14 events, and finished second in the four they didn't win to top the Crimson Hawks for the second straight year.
The trio of Engel, Nel and Beyer each won two individual events to pace Gannon. Adding in the relay wins, Engel ended the day with four first-place finishes and Nel posted three.
The Knights capped the day with a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle relay, and paired with the win by 0.31 seconds in the 200 medley relay to open things up, Gannon has still not lost a relay race this season.
Engel and Chris Luus (Pretoria, South Africa/Hoerskool Garsfontein) went 1-2 in the 50 free, both coming in more than half a second faster than the closest IUP swimmer.
Despite it being his first time in his young career not winning a race, McCallum hacked six tenths of a second off his 100 freestyle time with a 46.98 to finish just 0.18 out of first. The time also got him less than a quarter second outside of Gannon's top 10.

UP NEXT

The two squads flip sites next weekend, with IUP coming to Erie for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday.
The Crimson Hawks are 2-1 after defeating Clarion and Wheeling in duals before Saturday's loss to Gannon.
