EVENT NOTES
  • Originally set up as back-to-back dual meets for Edinboro against Mercyhurst and then Gannon, the event shifted to a round robin event with no team score in order to accommodate more matchups and be flexible with opponents.
  • It was the first time since the PSAC Championships of December 2017 that the three Erie County schools have all had their entire lineups competing in the same location.
  • Eight of Gannon's wins came against the Division I Fighting Scots. Included in that bunch were Farenchak and Leise, who both avenged losses from last season's dual meet at Edinboro. Farenchak took a 6-3 decision over Derek Ciavarro, and Leise built a big lead early and held off Cody Mulligan 8-6.
  • Lenox opened the night for Gannon with a first-period fall, Day worked for the pin midway through the second, and Hutchison also added a fall. Young turned in an impressive 15-3 major, and Zehe was the winner by injury default to give the Golden Knights five bonus-point wins.
  • Luigi Yates (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) went toe-to-toe with Edinboro's Jacob Oliver, who is currently ranked No. 8 in the Division I polls at 174 pounds, before Oliver added a pair of late takedowns for a 12-5 decision.
  • Using dual scoring to score the 19 matchups between Gannon and Edinboro, the Fighting Scots end up with a 39-31 advantage. Gannon won its only three bouts of the night against Mercyhurst.
  • In all, Gannon's 19 grapplers went 11-11 across 22 bouts, including three pins and one major decision. 39-31

UP NEXT
  • Gannon is continuing to add to its 2020-21 schedule, and new events will be announced as they are finalized. The next action on the schedule is a dual meet against Mercyhurst back at the Hammermill Center on Feb. 10.
  • No fans will be allowed in the Hammermill Center for that meeting, but live video and live results will be available.
