The Short Story: Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) led Gannon offensively Sunday scoring eight goals over the two games. She netted a team-best five goals vs. VMI and added another three vs. La Salle. A short-handed Gannon team dropped two close ones to close the Mercyhurst Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
VMI
- Gannon showed up ready to play Sunday morning with two straight goals to open the first quarter against VMI. Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) struck first on an assist from Julia Kreidinger (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria). Kreidinger had her chance next on an assist from Ruh to jump out to a 2-0 lead. VMI responded with three consecutive goals to close the first and take a one point edge.
- Kreidinger ended the scoring streak by VMI with her second of the game less than a minute into the second. McKenna Imset netted one 40 seconds later for VMI before Ruh sparked a 3-0 run by the Knights. Ferh and Libby Tirak (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) each tallied one goal in the run. VMI scored two more before the half expired and the teams were tied 6-6 at the break.
- Fehr opened the second half with her third and final goal of the game, which was quickly met with three straight goals from VMI. Ruh and Kreidinger netted the next two, but Imset would get another for VMI to close the third.
- Imset kept the momentum going with two more goals early in the fourth. Ruh broke up her run with an assist from Katie Baker (Erie, Pa./McDowell), but Imset tallied another at the 4:11 mark. Ruh scored at the 2:34 mark and with under 30 seconds left, but the Knights fell short, 14-12.
La Salle
- A tight first quarter led La Salle to a 2-1 lead after one. Ruh scored the first goal less the a minute into the quarter before the Explorers netted two down the stretch.
- Madison Martinex scored three straight to open the second quarter and extend La Salle's lead over the Knights. Madelyn Koerper added another to complete the 4-0 run. Ruh and Maggie Fortin (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored for Gannon helping make a dent in the lead at the break. La Salle edged Gannon 6-3 at halftime.
- Much like the second, the third quarter opened with three goals by a single player. Sarah Defusco netted three for the Explorers extending the lead to six. Baker ignited a 6-0 run from 2:39 in the third quarter to the 4:18 mark of the fourth. Lauren Rinderle (Erie, Pa./Fairview), Ruh, Sydney Fountain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos), Kreidinger, and Fehr all scored in the stretch for the Knights. Defusco scored with 3:34 left to take a one point edge. Ferh knotted the game 10-10 with 2:09 left to play, but a goal in the final minute sealed the 11-10 win for La Salle.
GAME NOTES
- Ruh finished the day with eight goals to lead the Knights. She recorded 10 goals during the invitational and also tallied five assists over the weekend.
- Kreidinger finished with six goals and six assists to have the second highest point total for the Knights this weekend. She also recorded three steals.
- Fehr scored three goals for Gannon vs. VMI and two vs. La Salle. She finished the weekend with eight as the second highest goal scorer for the Knights in the invitational.
- Nicole Wiemken (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) made her career-debut in goal this weekend for Gannon. She made 23 stops in goal including four in each game Sunday.

- Gannon heads to the Washington & Jefferson Invitational next weekend.
- While there, the Knights will play a four game schedule starting Saturday.
