AROUND THE LEAGUE
SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: Indiana leads 24-18
  • Last meeting: Jan. 11, 2020 – at GU – L, 48-62 – Box Score
  • Recap: Indiana leads the all-time series 24-18 after picking up a win vs. Gannon in early January. The Crimson Hawks are the only opponents the Knights have lost to on their home court this year. The teams hung together in the first meeting back on Jan. 11 until IUP erupted for 20 points in the fourth quarter sealing a 62-48 win. Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) led Gannon with 21 points.
  • 2019-20 Preview: The Knights look for revenge at Indiana this weekend after dropping a close one to the Crimson Hawks earlier in January. Gannon is coming off their largest winning margin of the season vs. cross-town rival Mercyhurst on Wednesday. Four players scored double-figures leading the Knights to the season sweep over the Lakers. The Crimson Hawks had their 19-game win streak snapped by California earlier this week. It was only their second loss of the season. Gannon looks to take advantage of the PSAC West leader and hand them their third loss of the year.

SCOUTING GANNON
  • Head coach Cleve Wright hasn't shaken the starting line-up once this season as he sticks with the same starting five. With a good track record so far this year, the starters proved their spot vs. Mercyhurst earlier this week. Four of the five starters scored double-figures: Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) (18), Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) (17), Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) (14), and Obenrader (13). Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) added eight points and did her job as a point guard dishing out a game-leading six assists to impact the offensive end of the floor.
  • Tewes earned the final Game Changer award of the 2019-20 season in Gannon's win vs. Mercyhurst. Tewes scored 17 points on 8-of-14 from the field. She also led the Knights with six boards, three steals, and four blocks. Her four blocks mark a new career-best for the senior forward. Tewes also added two assists in the contest. Both seniors, Tewes and Rourke, have now earned the Game Changer award. Rourke was named last season, while fellow teammate Obenrader earned it in the first meeting this season between the teams.
  • The Knights final broke the 70-point threshold after playing seven games with 69 or less points scored as a team. The last time Gannon scored 70+ points was in its road win at Clarion on Jan. 15 when the Knights won 75-55.
  • The Knights continue to find success from the field and are shooting 46.0 percent from the field. Their field goal percentage ranks 17th in the country and have slowly been climbing in the NCAA ranks. Obenrader leads the Knights from the field with the fifth best shooting percentage (.544) in the conference.

SCOUTING INDIANA
  • Indiana ranks first in the PSAC West and has clinched a PSAC Tournament home game. The Crimson Hawks were on a 19-game win streak until California downed them earlier this week, 57-52.
  • Justina Mascaro leads IUP scoring 14.6 points per game. She has scored double-figure 15 times this season including a season-best 32 points vs. Shippensburg. She also grabbed 11 boards to complete her only double-double of the year.
  • Natalie Myers adds 13.4 points per game, while Lexi Griggs scores 12.7 ppg. Myers is the team's leading rebounder with 7.7 boards per game. She has seven double-doubles on the year. Griggs has been hot and cold this season on the offensive end. She scored a season-high 22 points vs. California in the first meeting, but was held to just six points the other night.
