The Lady Knights will be looking to close the 2019 season on a strong note with their final two games of the year this week, beginning with their home finale Wednesday afternoon at McConnell Family Stadium. Slippery Rock has had mixed results so far this season, with tight wins over Millersville and Edinboro coming a couple weeks ago before defeats against Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst last week, both teams that are in the thick of it in the postseason race. Gannon has seen an uptick in offensive production recently, with Erin Rotondo (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) putting up eight goals in a pair of games last week and Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each adding two. The Rock, which still has a nonconference game against Lake Erie on Tuesday before the quick turnaround to head to Erie, is led by ShyAnne Toomer's 21 goals and seven assists.

Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Lady Knights are looking to lock up a PSAC Tournament spot for the ninth consecutive year. All six PSAC West teams have three conference doubleheaders remaining on the schedule. Gannon (9-5) holds onto second place in the PSAC West, sitting just behind Seton Hill at 10-4 in the conference. Edinboro (8-6), Slippery Rock (6-8), California (6-8) and Mercyhurst (3-11) sit third through sixth. The Lady Knights are fifth in the 17-team conference with a .306 batting average and fifth with a 2.86 team ERA. Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) is hitting .382 with a .685 slugging percentage, while Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area) (.368) is on a 13-game hitting streak with a team-high 39 hits. Taylor Wilp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) had a pair of two-hit games Monday against California and leads the team with 13 doubles, while Kaity Stocker (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) has team-highs in both RBI (23) and home runs (8). Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) (2.48 ERA) picked up a pair of wins Monday against the Vulcans to bring her season total to 11. Prior to Friday's contests against The Rock, Gannon will honor six members from the senior class for their academic and athletic achievements.

With the regular season winding down, Gannon arrives at a critical juncture in the 2019 campaign with two conference series against two of the top teams in the division. The Golden Knights welcome regionally-ranked California (Pa.) to McConnell Family Stadium for a weekend doubleheader on Saturday. The Golden Knights have yet to lose a conference series this season, but will round out the league slate against a pair of formidable opponents in Cal U (30-9, 15-5 PSAC) and Mercyhurst (24-8, 11-5 PSAC) over the course of the next two weekends. Gannon is tabbed ninth in the most recent NCBWA Regional Rankings while the Vulcans occupy the seven spot in the week 10 poll. Gannon will celebrate Senior Day between games on Saturday afternoon, and the senior group has helped Greg Coleman attain more than 100 victories in his first four seasons at the helm. Gannon showcased its ability to win games in multiple ways last weekend against UPJ, nabbing three of four games, highlighted by a walk-off double from Elijah Quiceno (Berryville, Va./Stonebridge). The Golden Knights are 25th nationally in home runs (48) while the pitching staff ranks 32nd in team ERA (4.03). Four players have belted at least seven home runs on the season and three pitchers have fired at least 40 strikeouts. Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) continues to rake and leads the team with a .362 batting average. On the mound, Deven Judy (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) improved his sterling record to 6-0 following another complete game effort last weekend.
