Golden Knights Fall in Midweek Road Test

INDIANA, PA- The Golden Knights dropped a midweek road test to Ashland by an 8-5 final, falling to 6-14 on the season. The Golden Knights would take a 4-1 lead in the second inning, but back to back frames (third, fourth) of three runs for the Eagles proved to be the difference. 

Hunter Troiano (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the Golden Knights with three hits and a trio of RBI's, while Dom Costello (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) also plated two runs in the game. Gannon outhit Ashland, 10-9. 

GU returns to conference play on Friday, hosting their home opener in a doubleheader against Clarion. First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 pm. 


THE KNIGHT CAP

  • Hunter Finds the Gaps- Hitting in the second spot on Tuesday, Hunter Troiano (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) provided an early spark for the Gannon offense. The sophomore collected three hits and notched three RBI's in the game, bringing his season total to 14, second on the team (Ian Soto (Florida, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristiana de Manati), 16). 
  • Early Surge - The Golden Knights gave up a run in the first but immediately responded, tallying four runs in the top of the second. Troiano cleared the bases with an RBI double to left center on a 2-1 count, and Dom Costello (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) followed that up a few batters later by bringing Troiano home with an RBI single.
