GANNON STORYLINES/NOTES:
  • Gannon (6-9, 2-6 PSAC) is still searching for its first win of the 2019 calendar year, losing its past four games dating back to December 19. Saturday's matchup begins a stretch of four out of the next five games taking place on the road.
  • The Lady Knights committed seven first half turnovers against the Mountain Cats and took a 34-31 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • Gannon has fallen to 15th in the PSAC in average scoring offense (63.4) but rank sixth in the league in scoring defense (65.5).
  • Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) had one of her best performances of the 2018-19 campaign in her 100th career collegiate contest last time out against the Mountain Cats. She set season-highs in points (9), field goals made (4) and minutes (36).
  • Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory), another experienced senior for the Lady Knights, is set to play in her 100th career collegiate contest on Saturday. The Hermitage, Pa. native has tallied at least 16 points in eight of the past 10 games, shooting 72.7% (56-77) from the floor in that span. LaCava ranks 17th in the PSAC in scoring (13.5), eighth in the league in free throw percentage (.806) and is converting 66.7% of her field goal attempts this season.
  • Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) made her return to the lineup last Wednesday against UPJ after sitting out the first two games of the month. She is second on the team with 42 assists and paces the Lady Knights with a 43.9% mark from three-point range this season.
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) has logged 30 or more minutes in all but three games this season. Perhaps the team's most versatile player, Rourke is second on the squad in scoring average (11.9) with double-digit efforts in five of the past seven contests.
  • Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) played one of the best stretches of basketball in her career during the first half against UPJ on January 9. She poured in 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting along with five rebounds in just a nine-minute span. The freshman, a two-time PSAC West WBB Freshman of the Week, is one of just 14 players in the league to have over 100 rebounds and ranks 15th in the conference with 6.8 rebounds/game.
  • Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) played 38 of 40 minutes last Wednesday against the Mountain Cats. The Halethorpe, Md. native has started in all 15 games this season and has dished out a combined 13 assists over the last two games.

SCOUTING SETON HILL:
  • Seton Hill (10-4, 4-3 PSAC) is one of three programs in the PSAC with 10 or more wins this season. All three of those programs play in the PSAC West and the other two teams (IUP, California) are both ranked in the WBCA DII Top 25 Poll.
  • Head coach Mark Katarski (6th Season) has turned around the Seton Hill women's basketball program, which posted a 20-10 overall mark in 2017-18. It was the most successful season as a PSAC school for the Griffins, but the team has had to replace four of their top five scorers from a season ago.
  • Seton Hill is a team trending upward with wins in five of the past six games. The Griffins posted a 74-62 road triumph last Wednesday against Clarion behind a 57% field goal percentage in the second half.
  • Megan Marecic (18.1 PPG) ranks eight in the PSAC in scoring average while Cheyenne Trest (12.1 PPG) also averages double figures for the Griffins. Marecic is also sixth in the league in rebounding (8.3).
  • Eight players average at least 13.6 minutes/game for the Griffins, who have used the same starting lineup configuration in each of the first 14 games of the season.
  • Seton Hill is a potent offensive squad, scoring 75.1 points/game, a mark that is fourth in the PSAC. The Griffins have scored at least 70 points in four of their past five matchups.

UP NEXT:
  • Gannon stays on the road to face nearby Edinboro this Wednesday at 5:30 PM. The Fighting Scots (9-3) had their six-game winning streak come to an end after a narrow 72-70 loss to Kutztown on Jan. 9.
