GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
  • Gannon pushed a run across in the first inning after Elijah Quiceno (Berryville, Va./Stonebridge) roped a single to right, scoring Mike Colosi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls).
  • The Golden Knights got another in the third inning as Quiceno was back at the plate and stroked a double to left center, plating Dominic Mori (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area). Gannon led, 2-0.
  • Gannon was back on the attack in the fourth inning, as Charles Benack (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) produced an RBI groundout, scoring Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville). Gannon extended its lead to 3-0.
  • The bats remained quiet for both teams until the bottom of the sixth. Ian Steighner (Chicora, Pa./Butler) led off the inning with a walk before Gannon strung together four consecutive hits that resulted in four runs. The Golden Knights went to the seventh and final inning with a 7-0 advantage.
  • Gannon ran into a bit of trouble in the top of the seventh as Clarion lined up some swings, resulting in four hits and three runs.
  • The last ditch effort wasn't enough, though. Gannon closed out the game for a 7-3 victory.

GAME NOTES – GAME ONE
  • Ty Phelps (Pomeroy, Ohio/Meigs) picked up the pitching victory after relieving Joey Colosi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) in the second inning.
  • M. Colosi led the Golden Knights with a 2-for-4 game, scoring twice and driving in a pair.
  • M. Colosi, Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon), Quiceno and Cox each knocked extra base hits in the game.
  • The Golden Knights out-hit Clarion, 9-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
  • Deven Judy (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) started game two on the mound for Gannon, striking out the first two batters he faced.
  • Gannon loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning, but all three runners were left stranded.
  • The Golden Knights and Golden Eagles kept trading zeroes through the middle innings as it seemed like the first team score was going to take the game.
  • Gannon got that break in the fifth inning. Two Clarion errors put Golden Knights' runners on first and second with no outs.
  • Cardy stepped to the plate and lined a double to left center, scoring M. Colosi. Mori followed with a sacrifice fly and Gannon took a 2-0 lead.
  • Cox drove in GU's third run after he doubled to left center, plating Cardy. Gannon led, 3-0, after five innings.
  • Judy continued to mow down batters as the Golden Eagles went 1-2-3 in the sixth and seventh innings.
  • Gannon took the final game of the series, 3-0, extending its win-streak to three games.
