HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
  • Gannon started hot with both Mike Colosi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) and Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) reaching base before Elijah Quiceno (Berryville, Va./Stonebridge) stroked a double of the right field wall. Quiceno's hit scored both Colosi and Oruch.
  • Dominic Mori (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) came to the plate and lined another Golden Knight' double off the wall, scoring Quiceno. Gannon led 3-0 after one inning of play.
  • In the third inning, Quiceno was back up and hit an almost identical ball to right field as the first inning. The double to right had another Golden Knight in scoring position with no outs.
  • Mori moved Quiceno over and a passed ball by Seton Hill allowed him to score. Gannon's unearned run made it 4-0 in the third inning.
  • Gannon kept the odd-inning scoring theme alive in the fifth. Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) blasted a lead-off homer to left-center field. The Golden Knights owned a 5-0 lead after five innings of play.
  • The Golden Knights didn't need to bat in the bottom of the seventh as Jarod Morrison (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton) pitched a gem. Morrison tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits and no runs.
  • Gannon closed out game one with a 5-0 victory.

GAME NOTES – GAME ONE
  • M. Colosi led the Golden Knights with a 3-for-4 game, scoring one run.
  • Morrison pitched his third complete game of the season. Morrison tossed seven innings of four-hit, no-run baseball. He also struck out seven and walked four.
  • Oruch and Quiceno also tallied two hits apiece for Gannon. Both of Quiceno's hits were extra-base hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
  • Seton Hill registered the first run in game two. Mark Colella clubbed a one-out solo shot in the second inning. The Griffins led 1-0 after two innings of play.
  • Gannon was able to knot it up in the fourth inning. Mori lined a lead-off single before Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville) doubled to center. Gannon was in business with runners on second and third with no outs.
  • Ian Steighner (Chicora, Pa./Butler) followed with a fly ball to center field that allowed Mori to come home. Gannon and Seton Hill went to the fifth inning tied at one.
  • Seton Hill had a great scoring chance in the top of the sixth inning. The Griffins had runners on second and third with only one out. David Cricks (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) was on the mound for the Golden Knights and buckled down to get out of the jam. Cricks struck out Carl Turner and got Mark Colella on a ground ball to first.
  • Gannon had its own runner at third with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville) stole second after getting a base-hit and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
  • Gannon was unable to get Cox in, however, leaving the go-ahead run on third.
  • The game went to extra innings with the teams still knotted at one.
  • The Golden Knights and Griffins traded zeroes until the ninth inning. With two runners aboard, Garret Vrabanic knocked a three-run shot over the fence to go up, 4-1.
  • Gannon couldn't rally in the bottom of the ninth and settled for a split, 4-1, the final.

GAME NOTES – GAME TWO
  • Cricks pitched great in six innings of work, giving up just one hit, one run and striking out nine.
  • M. Colosi led the Golden Knights with two hits.
  • The Golden Knights spread seven hits across six batters.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • M. Colosi ranks as the fourth-toughest NCAA Division II baseball player to strikeout. He was averaging just one strikeout per 34.5 plate appearances entering Friday's games.
  • Gannon leads the conference in sacrifice bunts, dropping down 12 so far this season through 22 games.
  • Seton Hill (43 HBP) and Gannon (31) rank as the top two teams in the conference in hit by pitches.
  • The Griffins are the defending PSAC champions, upsetting Mercyhurst in the championship game a season ago.
  • Morrison leads the PSAC and ranks 13th nationally in complete games this season with three.
