HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Indiana (Pa.) scored the only run of the first four innings with a single tally during its first at-bat.
  • Gannon broke through during the top of the fifth inning. Senior Nick Restuccia (Ormond Beach, Fla./Father Lopez Catholic) and junior Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) singled to put runners at the corners. Redshirt sophomore Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) followed with a double to right field that tied the game. Oruch later scored the go-ahead run with two outs on a throwing error.
  • The Golden Knights doubled their score with a pair of runs during the top of the sixth inning. Singles by junior Gregory Nicolia (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) and Restuccia put runners on the corners again. An RBI single by senior Andrew Wagner (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) pushed the lead to 3-1, before a fourth run came across the plate on a catcher's interference with the bases loaded and Cardy batting.
  • The roof caved in during the bottom of the frame. Indiana (Pa.) sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine times to race ahead 10-4. The Crimson Hawks reached base during the outburst with eight hits, a hit by pitch and an error.
